Bin Laden’s American Friends

Since 911, there have been those in America who, in reaction to the attack, have been doing Bin Laden’s work for him. Republican politicians and conservative pundits on TV and the radio have used the 911 attacks and the war on terror to advanced extreme conservative ideals and their own political careers. The Bush administration did more to destroy American ideals and the American way of life than Bin Laden or Al-Qaeda ever could. Attacks on the liberties, freedoms, and rights of Americans by the Bush Administration had to be more than Bin Laden could have wished for. The shame and tarnished image brought to America by the Bush Administration has injured this country and played right into the hands of the terrorists.

With the election of Obama and a Democratic Congress, America has begun to get back on track and return to the great nation that it was before Bush. But now we are in danger of having the tide turn again. As crazy and insane as it seems, the lies, deceit, and manipulation of the Right, combined with the continuing dismal, Republican-caused, bad economy, are having and effect on many Americans. Even worse, the race-baiting, hateful, and fear-mongering pundits on the right has been turning their hate towards the Muslim religion, and as a result the incidents of resistance and violence are increasing. Freedom of religion is one of America’s most sacred ideals.

It is sad, and a measure of the depth of Republican/Conservative shamefulness, that we live in a time when Freedom of speech is given to corporations and freedom of religion is denied to individuals. If the Republicans take control of Congress in November, pray for America!

Religious Intolerance

What can be more un-American than religious persecution and intolerance? This country was was born out of escape from religious persecution. The current persecution and intolerance aimed at the Muslim religion in this country is disgusting and against one of the most important and revered pillars of the American founding ideals – freedom of religion. Those who know better yet fan the flames of hatred and intolerance for political gain are traitors to what makes America special.

The Republican/Conservative power structure are without honor and will stop at nothing to regain political power. Race-baiting, fear-mongering, hate-speech, and everything deceitful and manipulative are all tools they are using on a daily basis. Bin Laden and al-Qaeda have no greater allies than those on the American Right who use terrorism and 911 to erode and destroy the very American ideals that they pretend to be upholding. In my book, these people on the right are traitors and the real enemies of America

Change We Need

Republicans have a pretty sweet deal. They obstruct, lie, deceive, filibuster, and completely resist ANYTHING the Democrats try to do in Congress, and to appease them almost everything passed in Congress is watered down and made much less effective. Then when things do not get better because of the weakened legislation, the Republicans can say “see, we told you this is not good. We were right to fight against it.” They come out smelling like a rose and the Dems look bad.

There is ONLY one solution. Obama and the Democrats need to forget bipartisanship, they need to quit worrying about how many votes they are going to get, and they need to start using every process, trick, and procedure available to get done what they know is right! They need to fight the lies with facts and the truth, call out the Republicans for their lies, and adopt any and all tactics that will be effective in countering the obstructionism and lies of the Right. Let the Republicans filibuster all they want. Maybe those who believe their lies will start to see the light of truth. There are only two kinds of Republicans – those who lie and those who believe the lies.

The Insanity of Short-Term Memory

If you burn your hand on the stove and after trying several remedies it still hurts too much, it would be insane to put your hand back into the flame as a way to ease the pain. Americans are still hurting very much from the crash of the economy, and according to the pundits, Americans are about to “stick their hands back into the fire” by electing Republicans during the mid-term elections. Now, that’s insane!

There is no question that the financial meltdown was the result of extreme and risky behavior on the part of Wall Street and the big banks. That behavior was only possible because of the 8 years of deregulation and “in bed with Wall Street and big business” government during the Bush Administration and Republican control of Congress. And worse yet, even now that the Democrats have taken control, the Republicans continue to fight tooth and nail to stop any new regulation, to protect Wall Street and big business, and to stop any reform. They also obstruct and fight against any and all legislation meant to help the economy or improve the lives of Americans. They would rather the entire country go to Hell in a hand-basket than let Obama and the Democrats have any success at all. But, of course, the wealthy will be the last to go. Now, that’s insane!

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said “so far, change sucks!” Talk about memory loss! Have we forgotten the nightmare of the Bush years? Yes, the economy still sucks, but are people seriously suggesting America is not in a better place?? Just how long do people think it takes to unravel 8 years of destruction, corruption, and crimes against the Constitution and America? Torture, illegal wiretaps, lying to the American people in order to invade another country, a redistribution of wealth from the middle class and poor to those who are already wealthy (the Bush tax cuts), exposing a CIA agent to take revenge on her husband for not supporting an illegal war, politicizing the Justice Department and threatening the very structure of our form of government in the process, and much more. That was just the short list. Just Google “The crimes of the Bush Administration” and see for yourself.

Hands down, the Bush Administration was the most criminal, the most power-grabbing, the most secretive, the most deceitful, the most destructive, and the most un-American in history. And today, the ONLY thing the Republican Party is offering America is a return to the Bush years. Voting for a Republican in the mid-terms is insanity! Americans who want to switch back to Republican rule seem to have no memory beyond yesterday. Insanity!

Arizona – More Than A Clothing Line

Well, the state of Arizona has a bold new law. They have taken a shot gun to a problem that requires a delicate touch.  But why not?  Why waste time getting evidence and probable cause when you can just assign guilt to an entire race, an entire nationality, and weed out the innocent AFTER violating their civil and Constitutional rights.  Innocent until proven guilty is such an inconvenient concept.

But why stop there?  Perhaps all law enforcement officials should be required to stop any person driving a vehicle for whom they has “reasonable suspicion” that they are driving without a license?  We know that most crime comes out of the poorer areas, so let’s just round up everyone below the poverty line and throw them in jail! We know that violent crimes are often committed with a gun or knife, so lets round up all gun and knife owners and throw them in jail!

Or…  Instead of all that, let’s just give federal marshals a mandate to arrest any Arizona law-maker under reasonable suspicion that they are a racist.

How to Tell Who a Political Party REALLY Represents

One way to determine just who and what the members of a political party are representing, who they are really working for, is to look at the voting record.  I do not mean that one should look at each individual’s voting record on each of the thousand of issues that Congress votes on, but rather take a much higher-level approach and ask yourself what the voting record means.

Specifically, if every member of a party in Congress votes identically on every issue, then one has to suspect that the members of that party are not actually working for those who voted them into office.  Even if all but a few vote identically on all but a few issues, there is still something there to be questioned.

The Republicans have been doing this like clockwork ever since Obama took office, and for years before that, albeit to a lesser degree.  Why should we find this suspect?  Combining the House Of Representatives and the Senate, Republicans have been elected to represent millions of people in 43 different states.  Republicans in the House of Representatives were elected by hundreds of different districts.  It is difficult to believe that any single issue in Congress would require identical votes from every Republican in both Houses in order to fairly and accurately represent the wishes of their constituents.  But when nearly every Republican in both Houses votes identically on issue after issue, something stinks in the Republican Party.

There is another factor that makes it even worse than it looks on the surface.  When we talk about the “wishes” of voters in districts that have elected Republican Representatives, and in States that have Republican Senators, we need to consider what beliefs these wishes are based on, and what information, or misinformation, those beliefs were formed from.  It is no secret, and easily proven, that Republicans in Congress have been extremely deceptive and misleading on every issue that the Democrats and Obama have been trying to address with legislation in Congress.  The conservative media and pundits, especially Fox News and individuals like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin, have gone beyond deceptive with flat-out lies, fear-mongering, hate-speech, and blatantly false statements.  Those who listen to these people are mostly Conservatives and Republicans, and the constituents of the Republicans in Congress.

The Republicans who are elected to Congress are completely aware of the deceit and deception that their constituents are besieged with, and they are also aware the result is that many of their constituents are very passionate about many issues, but they are for or against legislation based on believing lies about the legislation.  They are very passionate about wanting the sky to be blue, but are strongly against a bill in Congress that will keep the sky blue.  This is because they have been told the bill will make the sky yellow.

And the Republicans who represent these people in Congress not only let the deception of their constituents remain uncorrected, but they REPEAT the same lies as if they were truths.  Representatives and Senators should be representing the DESIRES of their constituents – what they want and need.  When the majority of their constituents are deceived into being against a bill that will, in fact, help them achieve their desires and satisfy their needs, then their Senators and Representatives should be enlightening them with the truth and voting FOR the bill.

So, the point here is that, if it is unlikely that the majority of each and every district and state represented by a Republican have the same conscious wishes, it is virtually impossible that they have the same basic desires and needs.  Thus, when all Republicans vote the same way on a controversial bill in Congress, one has to believe that they are really working for a much smaller and more uniform group than the one that elected them.  You notice that Democrats in Congress have a Hell of a time getting a unanimous vote from Democrats on any issue.  This is what a Party that is working for their constituents looks like.  The Republican Party, on the other hand, have a much smaller group as their masters – the wealthy and big business.

How Shall I Lie to Thee, Let Me Count the Ways!

Lies about the health care reform bill(s) over the last year have been a new low for the Conservatives and Republicans.  Not only have there been so many, but they have been more false than usual.  No slight deceptions, no misleading spin, just flat-out complete and absolute lies.  In fact, they have been the complete opposite of the truth.

And something else that has been new for these people is the fact that they are not being subtle about it – they do not seem to care how blatant or disprovable their lies are.  It’s like a shot-gun approach at lying – you are bound to hit a few believers.  The health care reform we have ended up with is by no means perfect.  in fact, it has a lot of problems.  But the lies of the Right have been designed to make people believe that the bill will bring death, destruction, and the end of the world!

We have heard them over and over, and no matter how many times they are debunked, they just keep coming back!  Death panels – absolutely not (in fact, just the opposite).  Government takeover of health care – not even close.  Coverage for illegal immigrants – not in the bill (in fact some of the bills expressly forbid this coverage).  Federal funding for abortions – the bill does not change the existing law on this.  Health-care rationing – just the opposite, insurance companies do this now and the bill will change that.  The bill will bankrupt America – just the opposite again (according to the non-partisan CBO) it will reduce the deficit, a lot (funny they were not worried about the trillions spent by Bush in an illegal war).  Our current health care system is already the best in the world – only if you are an insurance executive!

The list goes on and on.  And they have been just as bad outside of the health care debate.  Case in point – the “Birthers” and their complete lies about Obama’s place of birth.  I do not know whether to pity their desperation or get angry because there are people who believe this BS.

Democrats Pass Health Care – Republicans Vote Against the American People

True to form tonight, the Republicans did not cast a single vote for the health care bill or the reconciliation bill.  Not a single vote.  The Democrats, as usual, had to struggle and work very hard to scrape together the 216 votes needed to pass these bills without a single Republican vote.  There were some Democrat who voted against the bills.

As I have said in the past, the Republicans in Congress act as a single entity, pushing the agenda of the wealthy and big business.  The Democrats are the party of the people, and like the people they represent, they are spread out in their opinions, philosophies, and values.  It is a fact that a political party acts as widely or narrowly as the interests and beliefs of those for whom they work.  The Republicans are working for a small group of well-to-do, elite, arrogant, selfish people who have the money and the power, and want more money and power.  Democrats work for the people.

Because the Democrats work for many millions of people in all walks of life, and reflect the large variety of beliefs, philosophies, and values that these people hold, they are at a disadvantage when fighting the narrow and focused agenda of the Republicans.  If the membership in Congress is evenly divided, or even if the Democrats have a small majority, getting enough votes to pass something is still difficult for the Democrats because of this variety.  Republicans have no problems getting their entire party to vote as one.

It is easy for apathetic people and white-washed media to simply say that “all politicians lie,” or “ Washington is broken,” without pointing out or understanding that the two major political parties are not equally complicit in the problem.  In the name of being “fair and balanced,” mainstream media is in fact extremely unfair and biased.  By inaccurately reporting politics in such a way as to make both parties look just as good, just as honest, and just as right, mainstream media is being biased against, and unfair to, the Democratic Party, the American people, and America as a whole.

With lies, with hate, with deception, with manipulation, with threats, with fear-mongering, and with a total lack of integrity, Republicans, to the very end, fought against the American people and for the health insurance companies.   As far as I am concerned, the Republicans and the Conservative power structure are traitors to the American people and American values.

The United States Supreme Corporation

The United States Supreme Court has become The United States Supreme Corporation.  For the 2nd time in a little more than a decade, five conservative justices on the Supreme Court have soiled the under pants of their integrity and made a completely political decision that will have dire and destructive consequences for the people of this country.

The “Feces Five,” as I called them during the Great American Coup in 2000, appointed George Bush to the Office of President of the United States, against the will of the people (a known fact, NOT a guess or conjecture or an opinion), and the results have been devastating to America.  The Bush Administration, the most secretive, the most criminal, and the most unconstitutional in history, in the span of two terms, managed to turn record surpluses into record deficits, destroy America’s reputation & image, invade another country without justification, nearly complete the politicization of the Judicial branch of the government (altering the very structure of government), illegally spy on American citizens, engage this country in torture and other war crimes, and deregulate the financial industry to the point where a 2nd great depression was barely avoided!  Thanks a lot Feces Five!

Now, the same feces five, with one member replaced, have again soiled the under pants of their integrity and made a decision that promises to have even more devastating effects.  Giving corporations the ability to contribute unlimited amounts to campaigns and politicians, in the name of free speech, is a decision that has no basis in reality.  What’s next?  Maybe we should give corporations the right to vote?

Only Two Kinds of Republicans

There are really only two kinds of Republicans:

There are those who are part of the conspiracy, and those who have been duped by the conspiracy.

There are the 10 percent and the 90 percent.

There are those who deceive, and those who have been deceived.

There are those who manipulate, and those who have been manipulated.

There are those who take advantage and those who have been taken advantage of.

There are the puppet-masters, and the puppets.

There are the sheep-dogs, and the sheep.

That’s enough, I think you get the picture.  It has always amazed me that the Republican base includes so many that should never be voting Republican.  Minorities, gays, and the poverty-stricken are some that come to mind.  Republicans in power are openly against the best interests of these groups.  The conspiracy appeals to these groups with negative deception, such as fear-mongering.

But even larger groups in the Republican base are deceived by the conspiracy through false association and fake positive agendas.

The conspiracy pretends to be religious and promises to advance religious and moral values.  In reality they do so only to the extent that it gives them more power and advances the fortunes of the wealthy and corporations.  They publicly speak out against homosexuality, pornography, infidelity, and pedophilia, but they participate in these behaviors at least as much as the Democrats.

The conspiracy woos the middle class and conservatives with talk of family values, fiscal responsibility, motherhood, and apple pie.  Yet, they spend more, cause more recessions, and redistribute wealth from the middle class to the wealthy.  They deregulate business to the point where greed and risk-taking go wild.  Motherhood becomes too expensive because the middle class cannot afford health insurance, and the apple pies have no place to cool because the window sills have been foreclosed upon along with the rest of the house.

The conspiracy courts the gun lobby with speeches about the right to bear arms and individual freedoms, yet they tramp all over the individual’s right to privacy and destroy the economy which makes it too costly to bear arms.

The entire public persona of the Conservative/Republican power structure is a load of BS, and they ONLY get elected (and thus obtain/maintain power) by deceiving their base into voting against their own beliefs and self-interests.  They do this as a whole, and in unison.  They are coordinated, organized, and relentless in their deception, and thus, a conspiracy – the vast right-wing conspiracy is not myth!
