A New Link on the Main Menu
I have added a small photo gallery to this site. It is on the main menu as "Pictures of Dave." This is different from my other photo site (Photos R Free), which is on my Other Sites menu. The gallery here is just to shop pictures of me and where I live (my land and house), and in the future, other pictures of what is happening in my life. All the pictures will be relatively recent.

Another Beautiful Day in Sequim!
Today was a great day. The sun was out and there was only a slight breeze. It was very warm and beautiful out. I did some mowing and then I painted one side of my storage shed the same color as the house. There is a lot of paint left over from when they installed the house.
I am thinking about adding a sun deck on the sunny side of the house. I had someone come out to take a look last Saturday, and I am waiting for the estimate. I am also having someone come out with some equipment and do some leveling of the ground where I mow. It is full of humps and ditches now and is very difficult to mow. I also had some minor electrical work done yesterday. I had an outlet added on the deck, and a light installed in the storage shed. I also had the controls for the septic system fixed (there were some sires exposed).
I have a new Vet for Candi-louise. Last Tuesday she had her teeth cleaned and her nails clipped. They also had to remove one tooth. Candy was very groggy and strange when I brought her home, but she has returned to normal now. I had a great experience with a new doctor on Tuesday as well. I am still waiting for the COBRA coverage to kick in so I can start filling prescriptions.

Still in Transition
Moving to a new area involves a lot of transition. Candi-Louise has a new Vet, and her first appointment is tomorrow. I have an appointment with a new doctor on Thursday, and from there I will get a referral to a new cardiologist. I have most of my address changes in, and I am changing some of my financial accounts around. My health insurance is still terminated, but I sent in the COBRA payment last week.
We have had some great weather lately. This is the season for the grass to grow, so I am mowing almost every day. I have also planted some flowers. I am thinking about having some of the bumps and hills leveled to make the mowing easier. Now that I have the motor home all repaired, I have been going thru it slowly and doing a complete cleaning as well. In between all this work, Candi and I spend some time relaxing on the porch or sitting outside in the sun. There are three deer that we see almost every day, and a lot of birds show up at the feeders I have out. A bald eagle flew over today, and there are two large hawks living in the area as well.
I will start taking some pictures again, and will set up a small gallery here for people to view.

Still Keeping Pretty Busy
Well, so far, retirement has been pretty busy. Last Monday thru Thursday, I was in Vancouver, Canada. I was visiting with a female friend I had met online. I was staying at a hotel, but we spent a lot of time together and had a lot of meals together. Although we had a lot of points of compatibility, things did not really work out. Dating and trying to meet a significant other at this age is a world apart from doing so at younger ages. Instead of looking for someone with which to make a life, we all now have an established life, or have had one.
As a result, because none of us have identical lives (or even very similar ones), entering into a relationship and moving forward as a partnership, requires more compromise and adjustment than when we were younger. We have well established habits, likes & dislikes, friendships, and ways of living. Our lives are like well-worn wagon tracks on a dirt road (some would call them ruts). We are used to the width and depth of the tracks, and they always go to the same places at the same times. When we meet someone new, they have their own set of tracks, which may be wider apart and certainly go to different places. Somehow, differences have to be fairly reconciled without losing the individuality of either path.
So, life goes on, and so does my search for someone to share it with. But in the mean time, I am settling into retired life at my home in Sequim. I continue to make address changes to my accounts and online memberships. I am investigating the medical and dental/vision choices I have here in Sequim. I will also be choosing a vet for Candi. The weather is finally showing signs of acting like it should this time of year, and the mowing season is upon us!
